We are "The Garden Chapel" from Victory Gardens, New Jersey. We are a small, diverse, loving, and growing congregation located in Morris County, New Jersey. The borough of Victory Gardens was founded in 1941 by the federal government to house workers from a nearby munitions factory. This year, however, I realized that I have taken it for granted and have forgotten the wonder and the excitement of little growth around us. Congrats to this year’s seminary grads!

Five individuals from Franconia Conferece graduated from Eastern Mennonite Seminary this year: Danilo Sanchez (pictured), Boyertown congregation, Master of Divinity; Scott Hackman, Salford congregation, Master of Arts in Church Leadership; Emily Ralph, Salford congregation, Master of Arts in Religion; Anne Yoder, West Philadelphia congregation, certificate in ministry; and Tom Albright, Ripple congregation, certificate in ministry.

Pastors as Chaplains to Victims of Abuse?

A few years ago, in a meeting of a few Christian prosecutors, I learned that these individuals had never remembered a pastor attending court with a victim of sexual abuse but did remember numerous times when pastors attended hearings in support of the alleged offender. One of the prosecutors recalled one sad conversation while sitting in court with a young victim. This child said, “Does this mean that God is on his side?” Read more….
